In November 2017 we were asked to give advice on whether refurbishment of Mr And Mrs Smith’s windows would be a viable option. After an in depth survey it was deemed too expensive given the amount of rot and decay present. Refurbishment was simply not going to be an effective measure given the amount of windows in the property. The obvious gains that replacement windows would offer in comparison far outweighed any benefits of having the windows refurbishment.
We offered a replacement option whilst still keeping the window sections very similar to the originals.
The new windows were double glazed and fitted with stainless steel, ball bearing butt hinges as well as new internal brass ironmongery that complimented the new draught seals fitted in to the frames.
16mm double glazed units were fitted in to the new casements as well as applied bar work internally and externally to replicate the extremely slim original glazing bars.
The overall appearance of the new windows was almost exactly the same as the originals whilst giving the customers all of the thermal gains you would expect with new, double glazed windows.
